[a bunch of stuff that I agree with]

Have I mentioned lately that my main system, osiris.silug.org, was
originally a Slackware 2.0 box? I haven't done a complete reinstall
since July of 1994. I've been upgrading it, bit by bit, by hand the
whole way. It has run everything from 1.0.9 on up. Right now...

osiris:~$ uname -a
Linux osiris.silug.org 2.2.1 #22 Sun Jan 31 22:24:41 CST 1999 i586 unknown
osiris:~$ rpm -q redhat-release
redhat-release-5.2-1

Of course, this is on a system that still has stuff like this lying
around...

osiris:~$ ls -l /sbin/mkxfs
-rwxr-x--- 1 root bin 11964 Sep 16 1993 /sbin/mkxfs*

(Anybody remember xiafs? :) I think I finally nuked some of the
binaries dated 1992, although I should note that they still ran just
fine like 6 months ago on a 2.1 kernel. How's that for binary
compatibility?

The rest of my machines are pretty close to stock Red Hat these days.
