yes, I have been incrementing the serial number on the primary nameservers
to insure that changes will be replicated. the secondary that has been
causing problems has not received any updates at all, not even the initial
one. after checking /var/logs/messages, i see a warning regarding the
named-xfer which states that tmpfile is not able to be created. it sounds
like a permissions problem, but I am not certain where to check.

any ideas?
