squid max
I have the lates Squid (running on RH 7.3) on a Compaq 6000 dual
400MHz processor, with a Smart SCSI Array RAID 5, that is dropping
packets. We upgraded the 10/100 card to a Gigabit interface and it
is still dropping packets. It doesn't seem to be a CPU issue (load
bounces up and down between 50% and 90% on ONE processor, the other
runs 0% to 50%). the disk I/O is great - no problem there. I
would've thought the Gigabit interface would've fixed it. It's in
transparent mode and the Internet connection is 10MB. Potentially
2800 users but I'm sure only a fraction of them are using it at a
time. The downloading of MP3's and streaming stuff is greatly
dimished by a Packeteer Packetshaper.
Is this just too much for a single Squid box? Is there a way to
cluster this (in transparent mode?)
