Docbook

Hey all,
  Is anyone out there using docbook format right now? I remember Kara was
involved with it, but I wasn't paying attention then. Now I have to start
a long-term document which must grow over a couple of years so I'd like to
use something structured (and cool). I've looked around on the luci ldp
mirror but didn't find a nice (free) editing tool--did I just miss it?
