Re: LILO
The LILO Mini-HOWTO has a section on uninstalling LILO. Take a look at:

Chances are that will work. I've never done it on purpose, but I did
accidently blow it away about 5 years ago when I had to reinstall that
other OS...an unpleasant surprise but that was when I was good and did
rescue disks.
