I was under the impression that the problems were all fixed in 2.2.1.
If not, you should probably try either one of Alan Cox's -ac patches
(somewhere on ftp.linux.org.uk) or Linus's pre-2.2.2 patch
(ftp://ftp.luci.org/pub/kernel/testing/).
