Could be.  I haven't heard anything really big, though.

True.  But alien leaves a lot to be desired.  The LSB may make
improvements possible, though.

There's always "rpm --rebuild <srcpkg> && rpm -ivh
/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/<binpkg>".  Not quite the same ring, but the
same effect, anyway.
