Potential Meeting Topics
The following have been discussed as potential meeting topics over the years — the list dates back to the late 1990s, and we keep it around partly as history and partly because a surprising number of these never stop being relevant:
- TCP/IP Network Configuration
- Email Configuration
- Procmail (mail filtering)
- Mail Clients (elm, pine, mutt, etc.)
- Emacs
- Kernel Configuration, Compiling, & such
- Using Kernel Modules
- Using Linux as an X Terminal/Server for an X Terminal
- NFS
- Samba
- Building {Red Hat,Debian} Packages
- Using the Shells
- Databases
- Graphics (imaging, visualization, animation, 3d-modeling)
- Graphics Programs (i.e. GIMP)
- Linux Games
- Security
- ssh
- IP Masquerading/Firewalling (AKA Setting Up a Linux-based Router/Firewall)
- vi (A much better topic than emacs, IMO. ;)
- Emulators and virtualization
- Clustering
If you can think of anything else you’d like to see discussed at a future meeting, either bring it up on the discussion list or email info@luci.org. Also feel free to email your opinions on which topics listed above you’d like to see discussed.
