sendmail question

[Cloudmaster <sauer@cloudmaster.com>]

I was just playing with sendmail (whee!) and noticed a problem.  cloud120 is
the machine with the mail server, and cloud233 is internal.  the MX record
for cloud233 points to cloud120.  I've tried MX for cloud120 pointing to
cloud120, and no MX record for cloud120 at all.  Problem is, when I send
mail to sauer@cloud233 from cloud120, the mail doesn't get delivered.  It
oughtta go to sauer@cloud120, but it doesn't.  Instead, root and postmaster
get messages explaining that there's a problem:

554 MX list for cloud23.cloudmaster.com. points back to cloud120.cloudmaster.com
554 <sauer@cloud23>... Local configuration error

I'm not sure, but I thin this isn't what I want. :)  Anyone know offhand
what'd cause this?  I'm running NIS on cloud233, if that matters.
