RE: HP OpenView on Linux
Charles,
I believe that SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) was built for
exactly that purpose. Basicly, SNMP commands are used to query a
remote device on the network to see if that device is up, and working
properly. I read through the specifications about 4 months ago, and I
found it to be relatively simple. Here's a couple of references:
