still more ls questions

one thing that i miss about slackware, that i am sure is possible with rh
is the way file types and directories were displayed.
directories carried a trailing / symlinks were followed by @, and
executables, with *. It seems like I saw a flag for ls that put in the /
for directories, maybe I am wrong. Anybody know? 

as if I didnt think anyone would...
