There has been a lot of Raspberry Pi discussion on some of the ham radio
mailing lists I read. A lot of people who have peripherals and other
gadgets attached have had power supply issues with low voltage. A recent
series of posts mentioned these nice little regulators with adjustable
outputs:

The beauty of an adjustable output is you can adjust it so that the
precise voltage needed by the Raspberry Pi can be supplied by measuring
the supply voltage on the computer board itself.
