Just wanted to say hello to everyone who reads this mailing list. I am a "new" Linux user and live in Decatur. Have been looking for other users or groups in the area and found the LUCI website. I started with Linux about 2 years ago with OpenSuse. Struggled with it for awhile and eventually fell back to Windows XP. After having a taste of Linux I found PCLOS. Although in retrospect I am not much of a fan of PCLOS anymore, it was the first distribution that really brought me to Linux. Problem was, I learned nothing about Linux from using it. If you have ever used PCLOS, you will understand what I mean.
From there, I switched to Ubuntu and back to Gnome. Over the past year and a half I have used Debian, Arch, Mandriva and Fedora as well.
The latter remains one of my favorite Distributions. I have tried a lot of other distributions but none have really stuck with me. Currently I use a laptop and have Ubuntu 8.04, Debian Unstable, Fedora 9 and Foresight 2 QA installed.
Anyhow, I am going to try to come over to Springfield on June 10 for Newbie Night.
Regards,
Landon Baine
