Ok Just so I understand this correctly, what you are saying is that AMD64 can run 32 bit instruction code?

If you run a multilib-capable distribution (like Fedora, but not
Debian right now), yes. There's no downside.

For some things, yes. For other things, maybe not. If you find
something that doesn't perform well, run the 32-bit version. That's
the beauty of AMD64.
