Re: What Linux Magazines are you reading?
I read (and subscribe to) Linux Journal and, though it's not Linux
Specific, Sysadmin Magazine. I read both because they tend to - in
general - have a technical depth that I find lacking most other
Linux-oriented magazines. The magazines I don't read are those whose
covers look just like the "Teenage Videogamer" magazines on the same
rack. You know, they always have some stylized penguin, probably with
spiky hair trying to look tough, cool, or some combination thereof. :)
I've picked up copies of Linux Format and a couple of others previously,
but didn't continue reading because the target audience seemed to be
more newbies and/or more of a "home sysadmin" crowd. The (computer)
magazines that I do read tend to have more of a focus on people who've
had some computer science background, for lack of a better description.
I don't like being talked down to by someone who probably doesn't know
as much as I do to begin with, basically. :)
For context, I prefer books from O'Reilly and Manning, because they're
typically made up of more detailed content without fluff, though
possibly approached with a sense of humor. I want the same things from
magazines.
--Danny, far from "knowing it all", but far from newbie, too ;)
