ldap field aliases

i have several different programs that i wish to access the same stored ldap data (shared address book)

the thing is they access the same data with different field names (via different schema def's)

what i've been trying to figure out is if there is any way to have a field simply reference another field

i.e.   phpgwurl = labeledURl

that way when someone accessed the record from either phpgroupware or from evolution they would see the persons web page address, this would also make it easier to add new software later on with different schema's for the same type of data

am i just overlooking something here or can this not be done

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
