Erich,

I have done this before.  AMD makes a program called Magic Packet.  You 
can download it.  It broadcasts a series of packets...  I believe it 
broadcasts the MAC address about 16 times.  I will look for more 
information and get back with you.  I am sure Magic Packet is available 
for Linux also.
