Did you see the cartoon from the late '30's called "Daffy
in Wackyland"?  There was a cartoon character that was
supposed to be a do-do bird.  It held up a sign that saif
"foo".  Maybe it was "Porky in Wackyland", I dunno, anyway
I saw this listed as the earliest reference to "foo".
