i'm assuming that when you say "shorted out the real time clock" that you
mean setting the clear cmos jumper on board and starting the computer then
turning the computer off and setting the clear cmos jumper back, after
trying that i would take everything off the board (drives, vid, sound,
processor, ram, etc) and just put on the vid, cpu, and ram, then see if it
will let you into cmos, after that i would start replacing hardware (i know
that solution is not alway's practical), starting with the mainboard (if
it's still under warrenty take it to the vender and see if they can get it
to go into cmos), hope that helps
