modular kernel

when recompling with a modular kernel, after making bzImage, should you
immediately run make modules, and make modules_install?
for some reason, I thought i read in the kernel-howto that you should
actually make bzImage, put it in place, run lilo, and reboot, then after
the reboot, build and install modules.

was i up too late trying to read something technical?
