receive and relay

i am running linux as my desktop on a machine which is directly connected
to the internet. i would like for this machine is accept mail addressed
directly to users with accounts on it. however, i would like mail
originating on this machine to use another machine for relay, rather than
have sendmail, er, send mail directly to port 25 on the destination
machine.
my desktop is correctly set up with an MX record, and is currently running
sendmail 8.10.
what is the configuration needed for this type of setup? is there a field
within sendmail.cf that specifies what agent a machine uses for outbound
mail?
