The Peoria paper up here had some used computers in the classifieds. 
One was an IBM PS1 386 with an Epson Action printer for only $250, or a
Packard Bell for $500.  They always give me a good chuckle on a lazy
weekend.  Often you can find a simple setup on eBay (say K6/300 or 400)
cheaply.
