I hesitate to show my ignorance.. but here goes...
Could any of the following affect the boot process?
A) Your kernel is trying to load a module from the hard disk, but the hard
disk ide
module is not loaded yet?
B) Your lilo config is specifying your root=/dev/hda0 but the floppy does
not contain
the init= lines that tell it to use the floppy etc..
C) can you get to a place where you can type in soem "init=" stuff a few at
a time to
observe the differences they cause?
D) Can you overlook a newbie giving suggestions to a seasoned pro like
yourself?
E) Surely you dont have anything hard coded in *your* kernel that references
something
that does not exist at the *current* point in the boot sequence where it is
needed?
Ok I'll shut up now... you're safe.
