Dec 99- First meeting.
Topic: Installing Red Hat Linux on Your system.
Jan 00- Topic: Installing Peripherals on your Red Hat Linux System
(Printer, Scanner, Video Camera, Palm Pilot, etc)
Feb 00- Topic: Dialing up to the Internet, configuring PPP, using dial-up
tools, email, etc.
Mar 00- Topic: Editing Files (vi, emacs, pico)
Apr 00- Topic: Installing Programs. (RPM, tar, make, etc)
May 00- Topic: Hooking up to a network. (netcfg, ifconfig, route, etc)
Jun 00- Topic: Getting X to work.
This is how I'd see the meeting go.
7:00 - 7:15. Open discussion. LUCI related news, upcoming events related
to the newbie world.. new member introductions, stuff like that.
7:15 - 8:00. Above topic discussion.
8:00 - 8:15. Break.
8:15 - 8:45. Q&A, Advance topic above, Topic of the day, or hands on
(scheduled) workstation help.
Yes, there's an awful lot we can cover on newbie night. But I really just
want to focus on new users. Probably every other meeting we'll do a full
install, probably hands on on someone's system who's having troubles.
