JAVA and the JDK

I put a copy of the jdk onto my linux box quite a while ago, and up until
now, really never had any serious use for it. Finally a situation arises
where I can actually use it, and it seems like I have a missing library:

/jdk1.1.6/bin/../bin/Linux/green_threads/java: can't load library
'libXpm.so.4'

Is this a lib that should have installed with the jdk or one that should
be someplace else on the server?
