Yes. :)

In my Pro w/ 5 SCSI hard drives, 4 cd-roms, and a full-toer case, I've
poked a few holes in front of the metal part of the case (the plastic cover
plate already had holes in a pretty pattern) and made teh little decorative
hole-looking things on the front into real holes. I also installed a
standard case fan in teh front of the case pullng air in at teh bottom,
sealed off all the vents on teh power suppy except teh slots outside and the
place where teh fan mounts, and reversed the PS fan so it pulls air from
inside and exhausts it. Above the PS there's a place to mount a case fan,
so I've got another up there, with some electrical tape sealing the holes
around the fan making a signifigantly more effective shroud.
I still had a problem with 2 drives at the top of the ase getting warm
because most of the exhaust air was being pulled from below and not passing
over them, so I fit 2 of the smaller fans (what, 35-40 mm?) next to each
other where a 3.5" drive bay cover was, again using electrical tape for a
shroud. In general, always make a shroud for your exhaust fans. I had
(have but don't use) a deal that fits into a 5.25" bay with 2 exhaust fans
on it, but went to the seperate fans because the ball-bearing fans both work
a little better and are a lot quieter. All of the little all-in-one cooler
things like that one (that I've seen) used bushings, and I had to grind out
the shroud a little with my dremel to stop teh fan blades from hitting the
shroud. It was crappy... Proly looked nicer though. :) If you want it,
maybe I'll bring it to the next meeting and donate it on a trial basis
whereing you give it back if you don't use it?
Anyway, I'd like to get a slot fan or 2, because I'm still not getting
enough air circulated. I will smack anyone that suggests leaving the case
open though, because we all oughtta know circulating air is signifigantly
better. :) Maybe I should take some pictures and set up a web page...
--Danny, who's sure his roommate will mention the outside air system
eventually (hint hint)
