Potential Meeting Topics
The following have been discussed as potential meeting topics:
- TCP/IP Network Configuration
- Email Configuration
- Procmail (mail filtering)
- Mail Clients (elm, pine, mutt, etc.)
- Emacs
- Kernel Configuration, Compiling, & such
- Using Kernel Modules
- Using Linux as an X Terminal/Server for an X Terminal
- NFS
- Samba
- Building {Red Hat,Debian} Packages
- Using the Shells
- Databases
- Graphics (imaging, visualization, animation, 3d-modeling)
I can think of several others, including the following:
- Graphics Programs (i.e. GIMP)
- GGI
- Linux Games (DOOM, Descent, Quake, Quake II, etc.)
- Security
- ssh
- IP Masquerading/Firewalling (AKA Setting Up a Linux-based
Router/Firewall)
- vi (A much better topic than emacs, IMO. ;)
- Emulators (dosemu, wine, Wabi, Executor, VGB, iNES, bochs, etc.)
- Linux on non-uniprocessor Intel systems (SMP, Linux/Alpha, Linux/Sparc,
Linux/PPC, MkLinux, etc.)
- Clustering
