libpcap limitations

I believe that I read somewhere, that libpcap has a limitation of one
application/process accessing it at any one given time. I spoke to a
coworker of mine who mentioned that the number of simultaneous pcap
sessions is definable within the kernel, or at least it is so on BSD. Is
this true with linux? and if so, where? I have briefly looked over the
kernel options, and I don't see it. Am I overlooking it?

Thanks - cjm
