the y2k problem--jokes (fwd)

---------- Forwarded message ----------

At last week's Comdex show in Chicago, Microsoft founder and CEO was
questioned at length regarding the Year 2000 readiness of Microsoft
software.
Microsoft has been widely criticized for providing little information to
users regarding known Year 2000 issues. In response to this criticism, Gates
revealed the following Year 2000 compliance status of Microsoft
operating systems, with recommendations for end users:

Windows NT: Service packs will be made available to address
known Year 2000 problems in NT 4.0. Windows NT 5.0 will
not be released until all issues are resolved.

DOS/Windows 3.1: There are a large number of known Year 2000
compliance problems which will not be resolved. Windows 3.1
users are advised to upgrade to Windows 3.1's successor,
   Windows 95.

Windows 95: There are a number of known Year 2000 related problems
in Windows 95. Limited support will be provided. Windows 95
users are advised to upgrade to Windows 95's successor,
Windows 98, when it becomes generally available later this year.

Windows 98: There is a small number of known Year 2000 problems
in the current beta version of Windows 98. These issues are
expected to be resolved before general release, though some
problems may remain. For full resolution of all Year 2000
issues, users of Windows 98 users are advised to upgrade
to Windows 98's successor, Windows 1900.
